Who we are
The App Finder (appideafinder.com) is operated by Chris Ashby (Build Great Products). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: email chris@telescope.design.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and a password (stored only as a hash), or your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google.
- Your intake answers. The 10 questions you answer about your expertise, business, clients, prices, and audience, plus the brand name you give us.
- Generated output. The ideas, scorecards, mocks, and blueprint documents we create for you.
- Purchase records. Whether you’ve bought the blueprint, when, and the Stripe checkout reference. We never see or store your card number.
- Usage data. Standard server logs and, when the Meta Pixel is enabled, page views and events such as starting or completing checkout.
Why we use it
- To create your account and let you sign back in.
- To generate ideas and blueprints from your answers — that’s the whole product.
- To take payment and unlock what you’ve bought.
- To send you the emails the service needs (password reset) and, if you signed up, our newsletter.
- To measure whether our advertising works, when the Meta Pixel is enabled.
Our lawful bases are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving the service, and your consent for marketing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run The App Finder. Each only receives what it needs:
- Convex — hosts our database and backend, including your account, answers, and output.
- Anthropic — your intake answers are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate your ideas and blueprint. Anthropic doesn’t train its models on API data.
- Stripe — processes payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe.
- Resend — sends the password-reset email.
- Beehiiv — holds our newsletter list. Your email, and whether you’re a purchaser or community member, is synced there when you sign up.
- Google — if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Meta — when the Meta Pixel is enabled, receives page-view and checkout events for ads measurement.
- Vercel — hosts the website.
We don’t sell your data. Some of these providers operate outside the UK and EU; where they do, transfers rely on their standard contractual safeguards.
How long we keep it
Your account, answers, and output stay while your account exists so you can return to your ideas. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Ask us to delete your account and we’ll remove your personal data, except records we’re legally required to keep.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or export it, and you can withdraw marketing consent at any time (every newsletter has an unsubscribe link). Email chris@telescope.design and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and storage
We use browser storage to keep you signed in and to avoid double-counting a purchase. The Meta Pixel, when enabled, sets its own cookies for ads measurement. We don’t use other tracking cookies.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email. See also our terms of service.
